Candidates must have had residency in the City for at least one year prior to the November election.  Nominating petitions must have the signatures of at least 25 registered voters in the City. The City of Morenci is proud to offer the opportunity to honor a Veteran or current military service member with a customized 18x36" light pole banner.   Banners will be displayed on Main St. and North St. in Downtown Morenci for Memorial Day, throughout the summer, and for Veteran's Day. At the end of the year, banners will be returned to families as a keepsake. The City of Morenci is providing a dumpster for bulky item dumping this Saturday, March 18, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the DPW facility located at 597 W. Chestnut St. (behind Wakefield Park).  Residents may dispose of up to two bulky items per primary household. Check in will occur with a DPW laborer prior to dumping. Only one trip is allowed per primary household and the bulky items must have been generated from that residence. IDs will be verified and recorded, and violators will be turned away. ​City Council will hold a special meeting to set 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year goals on Wednesday, March 22. The meeting will begin with tours of City departments and buildings at 6:00 p.m. Discussion will take place at the conclusion of the tour at City Hall at 7:45 p.m.  Goal setting will help establish the FY 23/24 budget and the 5-year Capital Improvement Plan.
Due to Friday's snowfall, there have been delays in brush pick up. The deadline for brush to be placed at the curb is now extended to Monday, March 13​ at noon. The terms of Mayor Sean Seger and Councilors Jerome Bussell, Jeff Lampson, and Diane Molitierno expire this year.  There is also one vacant seat due to the resignation of Sandra Emmons.  Council is expected to appoint a new member to fill the vacancy at the March 13 meeting.  That person will serve only through the November election.  Mayor Seger has decided not to seek another term in office.  Candidates must have had residency in the City for at least one year prior to the November election.
