Our 2nd graders are learning to think like coders! 💻🎃 This week, students practiced computational thinking skills through a fun and festive Trick-or-Treat coding game. Working in pairs, they used logic, sequencing, and teamwork to solve challenges — proving that learning can be both engaging and spooktacular! 👻 #MorenciBulldogs #BulldogPride #STEMLearning

Our students explored radial yarn art designs while learning how to use tapestry needles! 🧵 This group worked incredibly hard and showed amazing resilience throughout the process. 👏

Today’s science lesson was delicious! 🌍 Students built edible models of Earth’s layers after converting each layer’s thickness (1,000 km = 1 cm) and marking their cups to show the crust, mantle, outer core, and inner core.

We had a busy and creative week! 🍎✂️ We read Too Much Glue and Scissors on Strike to learn about using our classroom tools safely and responsibly. Then we explored stencils and warm colors in art to start our Autumn apple masterpieces! 🎨

Nothing says fall fun like pumpkin painting! Mrs. Grieder’s first graders loved showing off their creativity. 🍁

Learning About Perspectives in 4th Grade 🧠💬
Our fourth graders have been exploring how people can view the same thing in different ways! In Mrs. Miller’s SEL activity this week, students shared some of their favorite and least favorite things, like school subjects, and discovered that everyone’s opinions are unique. They wrapped up the lesson by interviewing classmates to compare their likes and dislikes. What a fun way to learn about empathy, understanding, and individuality! 💛🐾

Our 5th graders had an incredible day at Providence Park! They explored history through the Canal Experience and toured Ludwig Mill, diving into hands-on learning and discovery. So much curiosity, and learning happened throughout the day. What a great adventure for our young Bulldogs! 🚌📚💧

🌟 February Staff of the Month: Laurie Schisler! 🌟 We are thrilled to recognize Laurie Schisler as our February Staff of the Month! Laurie embodies the true spirit of dedication and school pride, always going above and beyond to support our students and school community. Whether stepping into different roles, building meaningful relationships with students, or making school events extra special, her commitment never goes unnoticed. This year alone, she has regularly volunteered at athletic events, brought school spirit to life by dressing up as the Bulldog and the Grinch at special events, and opened her home and heart by hosting two exchange students, providing them with an incredible experience in our community. Laurie’s willingness to help, positive attitude, and dedication to students make Morenci a better place every day. ✨ 4th Grade Wax Museum ✨ Last Tuesday, our amazing 4th grade students, guided by Mrs. Elliott and Mrs. Rohde, brought history to life at the Wax Museum! Each student researched and represented a significant person, sharing their knowledge creatively and engagingly. Students from all grades had the chance to visit, listen, and learn from these incredible historical figures—what a fantastic way to make history come alive!

🚜🌾 Farm Science Lab Visits Morenci Elementary! 🌾🚜 This week, our students had an amazing hands-on learning experience with the Farm Science Lab! 🧪🌱 This 40-foot mobile classroom brought STEM-based lessons to life, reinforcing science standards while helping students understand how agriculture impacts our daily lives. From exploring the latest teaching technologies to engaging in interactive experiments, our students got a field trip-style experience—right at our front door! 🚜📚 A huge thank you to the Farm Science Lab for bringing this unique learning opportunity to Morenci. 🌍🎉 Global Play Day Fun! 🎉🌍 Our students had an amazing time participating in Global Play Day on February 5th! 🎲🏀🎭 From building and creating to playing games and using their imaginations, they embraced the power of unstructured play and collaborative fun. Play is an essential part of learning, and today was a fantastic reminder of how it fosters creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork!
