Mr. O'Leary is hosting Dog Dinner this coming Wednesday, October 26th from 6-7 p.m. at The Pizza Box in downtown Morenci. Come and enjoy a FREE slice of pizza and a short presentation by Mr. O'Leary. In addition, he will be recognizing the Gecko club members.


The Morenci Chapter of the National Honor Society is hosting a Blood Mobile at Morenci High School in the gymnasium on Friday October 28th from 9:30 - 2:30. Students must be 16 years of age in order to donate and will need a parent/guardian signature. This is a community event, so please spread the word to help us increase our donations. Remember, WE WANT YOUR BLOOD!

If you are unable to donate at this time, the NHS will be hosting two additional blood drives in January and April. NHS students provide numerous volunteer hours through the blood drives, and as a result the American Red Cross sponsors scholarships for select senior NHS members. The more donations made, the greater their scholarship, so help our students, as well as our community.


Morenci Area Schools is looking for qualified candidates to fulfill three open coaching positions for the 2022-2023 school year. Current openings are: Middle School Wrestling and Boys Basketball Coach and JV/Varsity Boys and Girls Bowling Coach. Visit our website for details.


The middle & high school experienced a false fire alarm due to dust from a shop vac exhaust. Students evacuated building and an all clear was immediately given.

Tonight the City of Morenci is hosting the Fall Festival downtown from 5-7 pm. There will be fall games, photo booths, petting zoo, merchants and non-profits, hayride, caricature artist, face painting and live wood carving, as well as music and a movie at the theatre. Local establishments will even have grab and go menu’s. Stop by and enjoy a great family event.
On Saturday the varsity football team will play at noon against Sandusky Central Catholic. The Kiwanis of Morenci will be hosting a Pack a Pick up during the game for the Morenci Food bank.
In other sports action tomorrow the Varsity Volleyball team will travel to Adrian for their county tournament. Morenci is hosting the JV County Volleyball tournament and the Cross Country team travels to Gerber Park for the Lenawee County Championship.
The Morenci Marching Band will be performing a Glow Show at 7:30 p.m. on the football field and will be recognizing their senior band members. Come out and support our band.

Senior King Candidate Landon Mansfield and Senior Queen Candidate Bryana Martinez
Landon participates in football, basketball, track and baseball. He describes himself as hardworking, goofy, and resilient. Landon is the son of Jason Mansfield and Lucie Mansfield.
Bryana participates in volleyball and track. She describes herself as independent, goofy and hardworking. Bryana is the daughter of Steve and Heather Martinez.

Senior King Candidate Jayden Ables and Queen Candidate Rachel Shoemaker
Jayden participates in football and baseball. He describes himself as hardworking, dependable, and respectful. Jayden is the son of Will and Ashley Ables.
Rachel is a member of the National Honor Society and also participates in volleyball, basketball and softball. She describes herself as respectful, nice and thoughtful. Rachel is the daughter of Curt and Sharilyn Shoemaker.

Senior King Candidate Owen Blaker and Queen Candidate Emilee Cox
Owen participates in football, basketball, baseball and golf. He also helps coach a Junior Dawgs football team of 5th and 6th graders. Owen describes himself as busy, hardworking and resourceful. Owen is the son of Jake and Jennifer Blaker.
Emilee is currently the Vice President of the Class of 2023. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society. She volunteers in a variety of ways around school and the community. Emilee describes herself as intelligent, creative and considerate. Emilee is the daughter of Jim and Sandy Cox.

Brodie Pike and Clarissa Berger
Brodie participates in football, basketball, track and golf. He describes himself as hardworking, resilient and fast. Brodie is the son of Brad and Megan Pike.
Clarissa is the President of both the Class of 2023 and the National Honor Society. She participates in cross country, basketball, track, FCA and the National Technical Honor Society. She describes herself as charismatic, hydrated and slay. Clarissa is the daughter of Scott and Rebecca Berger.
