The City of Morenci invites residents to attend Growing the Tree Stewards Team, the next free community education session offered through the City's Urban Forestry Program on Saturday, August 1, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Stair District Library.
Led by Board Certified Master Arborist Steve Lane, this interactive workshop is designed to build upon the knowledge gained throughout the City's Urban Forestry educational series while helping participants take the next step in supporting Morenci's urban forest.
Participants will review lessons and skills from previous workshops, discuss ways residents can support local urban forestry efforts, and explore opportunities for future involvement in Morenci's Tree Stewards program. The workshop will also focus on recruiting and mentoring new Tree Stewards, developing future volunteer leaders, and creating resources to help new participants get started.
Attendees will take part in a guided tree walk to observe work completed through the City's Urban Forestry Program, including recent tree plantings, maintenance efforts, and other improvements throughout the community. Participants will also help identify priorities for the next phase of the Tree Stewards program.
Whether you have attended previous workshops or are interested in learning more about Morenci's trees, all residents are welcome. This workshop is a great opportunity to connect with fellow community members, learn about ongoing forestry initiatives, and help shape the future of Morenci's urban forest.
