Downtown Morenci is once again proudly displaying the annual Hometown Heroes Banners, honoring local veterans and military service members for their dedication, sacrifice, and service to our country. This meaningful tradition serves as a visible reminder of the deep respect our community holds for those who have answered the call to serve.
Thank you to the families who participated in this year’s program and shared the stories of their loved ones through this tribute. Your participation allows the community to publicly recognize these individuals in a meaningful and lasting way.
We are also grateful to the Morenci American Legion and Auxiliary for their continued partnership in helping make this tribute especially meaningful through the placement of American flags throughout downtown. Thank you as well to the Morenci Garden Club for once again adding beautiful hanging flower baskets that help create a welcoming and vibrant downtown streetscape. Special appreciation goes to the City of Morenci Department of Public Works for the time and effort involved in installing each banner, flag, and basket.
The Hometown Heroes Banner Program is a true community effort and reflects the pride Morenci takes in honoring those who have served, as well as the strong partnerships that help bring this display to life each year.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to take time to walk or drive through downtown Morenci to view the display and reflect on the service and sacrifice of the men and women who have helped protect our freedoms.
