The City of Morenci invites residents to attend a free Tree Pruning & Monitoring Workshop on Saturday, June 20, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Stair District Library. This hands-on educational session is the third community workshop offered through the City’s Urban Forestry Program.
Led by Board Certified Master Arborist Steve Lane, the workshop will provide practical guidance for residents interested in learning how to care for and monitor trees in their neighborhoods and throughout the community. With more than 20 years of experience in Arboriculture and Urban Forestry, Lane brings extensive expertise and an engaging, approachable teaching style to each session.
Participants will learn proper tree pruning tools and techniques, how pruning methods vary by species, and how to identify common tree pests and diseases. The workshop will also introduce attendees to the City’s tree inventory system and explain how residents can report tree concerns to Morenci forestry staff. A “Tree Doctor 101” discussion will cover basic treatment strategies for common tree health issues.
Whether you attended a previous workshop or are joining for the first time, all are welcome. This session is especially well suited for residents interested in becoming more involved in caring for Morenci’s urban forest and helping grow the City’s Tree Stewards volunteer network.
