Shop Small Support Local Make a Big Impact Small Business Saturday Novembrer 29

The Morenci Downtown Development Authority will celebrate Small Business Saturday on November 29, inviting residents and visitors to shop local and support the small businesses that keep the community thriving.

In its fourth year, the event will feature sales, specials, and giveaways at shops throughout the downtown district. It is part of a national effort to highlight the role of small businesses in building strong local economies and lasting community connections.

Shopping local is more than a purchase; it is an investment in neighbors, friends, and local entrepreneurs. Dollars spent at small businesses circulate back into the community through wages, supplies, and charitable giving. According to the American Independent Business Alliance, for every $100 spent at a locally owned business, about $70 stays in the local economy, compared to just around $43 when the same amount is spent at a national chain. That difference supports local jobs, services, and reinvestment.

Small businesses also give back in big ways. National surveys show that nine out of ten small business owners donate to local schools, youth programs, and charities, and more than three-quarters volunteer their time to community causes.

“When you support a small business, you’re helping a neighbor put food on the table, sponsoring a school activity, and keeping our downtown vibrant,” said Morenci DDA Chair Chelsea Craig.

Residents are encouraged to visit downtown, explore the shops, and discover what makes Morenci’s local businesses unique. Support local, shop small, and make a big difference this holiday season.
