​In December 2021, City Council authorized the City Administrator to ratify a new refuse contract with Modern Waste Systems, Inc, the sole company who submitted a bid for refuse service at that time. The contract began February 1, 2022 and continues through February 1, 2027 and includes a rate increase each year of the contract. The City is beginning the second year, which includes a $0.69 increase per unit. The current refuse rate is $14.75 per month per unit and the new refuse rate is $15.44 per month per unit.
